After the political changes of 1989, below the new laissez-faire economy conditions, the govt. of the Czechoslovak Republic and therefore the management of SKODA began to go looking for a powerful foreign partner whose expertise and investments would be capable of securing the long-range international aggressiveness of the corporate. In December 1990, the govt. selected cooperation with the German Volkswagen cluster. The SKODA - Volkswagen venture began to control on sixteen Apr, 1991 below the name SKODA, automobilová a.s., changing into the fourth complete of the Volkswagen cluster aboard VW, AUDI & SEAT.
